Company Profile

St. Scholastica's College, Manila, Philippines
Updated: 01/2008

DESCRIPTION:
On December 3, 1906, St. Scholastica's College was founded by five young German sisters - the first group of Benedictine sisters who came to the Philippines, headed then by Mother M. Ferdinanda Hoelzer, OSB. The site of the St. Scholastica¿s College then was a small residential house surrounded by fishermen's huts in the fishing village of Tondo. There were then six paying students and 50 non-paying students or scholars. Today, 100 years after it started, thousands and thousands of Filipino women who have been trained and disciplined by the Benedictine sisters to give their best to our Almighty God and to our country are reaping success, glory, and recognition. Today, more students than can be accommodated in St. Scholastica's College are applying for admission. A mute tribute of its high standards for academic excellence and its concern for social and moral values.
