DESCRIPTION: SEL was incorporated in 1982 by Edmund O. Schweitzer, III. Dr. Schweitzer developed the first digital relay as his Ph.D. project while at Washington State University in Pullman, WA. The project led to the manufacturing of the world's first all-digital protective relays. In 1984, SEL shipped its first products to Otter Tail Power Company, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Today, SEL employs over 500 people and continues to grow. We continue to design and manufacture the world's best micro-processer based protective relays.
