DESCRIPTION: We are a benefits company that offers Colonial supplemental insurance to businesses for their employees. Unlike AFLAC (our major competitor) we solicit new accounts directly through the owners and HR Directors of local companies or by working with established Brokers, enroll each employee electronically at the worksite during their regular health insurance ¿open enrollment,¿ and then provide on-going service to the accounts from our office in Metairie. All of the processing of applications, underwriting, and billing for individual policies is handled by the main Colonial office in South Carolina, we only sell and service. Supplemental benefits used to be considered ¿add-on¿ benefits, however in many cases they¿re now viewed as part of the core benefits package. The reason? As employers are forced to raise deductibles on their group health plans, they can offer supplemental products to employees to help them fill the gaps in lost coverage.
