DESCRIPTION: AFLAC is a Fortune 500 company and was ranked as the number one insurance company to work for in 2002. AFLAC is the world's largest provider of supplemental insurance. We insure over 40 million people worldwide. The company was founded in 1955 in Columbus, Ga. by the Amos Family. It is a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange but the Amos Family still plays a large role in running the company. AFLAC is located in all 50 states and in Japan. AFLAC stands for American Family Life Assurance Company. The AFLAC name is now most know for its advertising campaign using the "Duck." In the March 3, 2003 edition of Fortune Magazine AFLAC was named to the Fortunes list of "America's Most Admired Companies" for the third year in a row. In a special edition of Training Magazines's monthly magazine, AFLAC was named to its 2003 list of "Trainin Top 100" companies with outstanding workforce development programs. | |
