DESCRIPTION: The Mission of the Cheyenne River Youth Project is to ensure the healthy development of Cheyenne River Reservation Youth by providing a safe, nurturing youth center environment and recreational, social, educational and cultural activities designed to anhance the children's life coping skills. The Project operates several programs in addition to the Youth Center that serve the community's needs. We are seeking energetic, creative individuals to be a part of our workforce. The hours are long and the job can be physically and emotionally demanding. We work on the Cheyenne River Reservation, where extreme poverty has had many effects like alcohol and drug abuse, unemployment, physical and emotional abuse, neglect, malnutrition and other behavioral problems. The Project works with primarily Lakota children from ages 5-17, some of whom have developmental disabilities. | |
