DESCRIPTION: Washoe County is a growing area located along the eastern slopes of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in western NV. The county covers an area of 6,600 sq. miles in the northwest section of the State bordering California and Oregon. The population is approx. 333,566. The county seat is the City of Reno and includes other communities such as Sparks and Incline Village, at Lake Tahoe. Skiing, fishing, lakes and hiking abound and are all within minutes of the metropolitan area. Citizens enjoy cultural events, quality public schools, and excellent public services. There is also a growing economy, plentiful housing, and moderate cost of living. The climate is mild, with low humidity and rainfall, and a full range of the four seasons. Washoe County employs nearly 2,800 people. The organization fulfills major roles, including services provided as an administrative arm-of-the-state, a regional and community service provider, and administrative and support service functions. | |
