Federally chartered in 1977, Empire promotes the well-being of credit unions with programs designed specifically to cultivate their independence from their competitors and support their members financial and payment system needs. Empire Corporate FCU is part of a three-tier credit union support system called the Corporate Credit Union Network. Thirty-six corporates, plus U.S. Central Credit Union, provide wholesale financial services - liquidity, sound investments, inexpensive credit, and cost-effective payment and correspondent services to over 14,000 credit unions in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
