DESCRIPTION: AON Networks is a very early startup and was founded in October 2000 by Mike Farmwald, a co-founder of Rambus (RMBS), Chromatic Research, Epigram (now part of Broadcom), and several other emerging companies. AON Networks is developing a comprehensive suite of traffic management and resource provisioning tools, based upon a set of proprietary algorithms that will allow carriers and ISPs to automatically adapt their network configuration to maximize its carrying capacity. Furthermore, as optical networking equipment evolves to the point where wavelength routing and wavelength conversion become feasible, carriers will be faced with a new set of challenges in managing and provisioning their networks. The products now being developed at AON also address the management of DWDM networks, allowing carriers to provision light paths in ways that best utilize the resources in their network. | |
